Jackson saw red against Flamengo for a reckless studs-up challenge on Ayrton Lucas just minutes after being introduced as a substitute during Chelsea's 3-1 defeat to the Brazilian side in the Club World Cup last week. The Senegalese striker subsequently took to social media to apologise for his actions after the final whistle, stating he is "angry" with himself and taking full responsibility for his actions.

Jackson's team-mate Cucurella was quizzed on how the Chelsea squad reacted to the striker's reckless behaviour, to which the Spaniard said: "Yes, for sure it's been accepted. What happened is just football. This game is sometimes about mistakes. He made a mistake, but we have forgotten about this. We'll miss him in the next game, but we have other players that can do his job."
