It's no secret that the England international is now headed to La Liga as he is all set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer. As per usual rules, the defender can only formally join his new club once his existing contract expires, which is on June 30, 2025. However, according to Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol, Los Blancos have approached the Reds to allow the player to complete the move before the expiry of his deal as they want him to be part of the travelling Madrid squad to the U.S. for the FIFA Club World Cup. Their first game in the competition is scheduled on June 18 against the current Saudi Arabian champions, Al-Hilal.
