Jordan Morris etched his name in Seattle Sounders' history on Saturday, becoming the club's all-time leading scorer with his 87th goal in a thrilling 5-2 victory over LAFC at Lumen Field.
The record-breaking goal came in the 77th minute when Morris collected a pass from fellow Seattle native Paul Rothrock and blasted it through the legs of LAFC goalkeeper Thomas Hasal – putting the Sounders up 3-1 in what would finish as a dominant win.
“It means everything,” Morris told MLS Season Pass after the match. “I’ve talked about it for a long time. I thrive on scoring goals. That’s what I want to do and bring to the team."

Morris' achievement is a testament to his resilience and dedication to his hometown club. Having overcome two ACL injuries, the Seattle native has become an integral part of the Sounders' success, contributing to two MLS Cup victories and a CONCACAF Champions League title.
The record-breaking performance against LAFC also marked a turning point in the rivalry between the two Western Conference powerhouses. After a period of struggle against LAFC, the Sounders have now secured back-to-back victories, including a crucial playoff win last season.
