A couple of months on from winning their first game in 20 years, and their first competitive match ever, San Marino beat Liechtenstein once again on Monday night. That was the first time they have scored three goals in the same game – ever.

To top it off, they topped League D Group 1 after four matches – meaning they will be promoted to League C. They finished with seven points from a possible 12, edging Gibraltar into second. The infamous minnows, who are ranked as the worst international football team in the world, will now face an even tougher task against better sides in the next edition of the Nations League.
